Eventually I was allowed to accompany my aunt who had taken a part time job in the afternoon delivering newspapers. Freedom at last. I would sit in the back seat of her 60's era Chevy Impala and was assigned the job of putting a rubber band around the papers and then placing them on the front seat. It was all very entertaining for me as we would make up stories about the people who lived here and there. "Those people" on Maple Dr. were scandalous.
Eventually she gave that up and my new summer interest grew into watching a new program called The Young & The Restless with my mother. I really didn't understand the subject matter but it was a routine that I looked forward to.

During my college years I scheduled my classes around Y&R and often my roomie's fraternity brothers would pile in the living room to see the drama of the day. We were enthralled by brassy Rose Deville who was running a black market baby ring and stole poor Nina's baby. Secretly I was enthralled with a room full of hot fraternity guys. But that's another story.
I haven't watched Y&R for a number of years but something made me watch it yesterday. Some story lines never change. Victor and Nicki are still true loves and Katherine Chancellor is still older than dirt. Best of all after 24 years (real years and not soap opera years) we now know what has become of Nina's little stolen baby. And the most ironic part is that I wish I could take my afternoon naps again.
A few of you may have already seen this but here's my Freddie singing the intro.

Oh Hayward,
Freddie has me rolling around the floor in fits of laughter... what a wonderful hound!
He's quite moved by performances of Celeste Aida as well. Funny pooch!
